Israeli aggression targets southern Syria

Israeli occupation forces have reportedly advanced into towns within Syria's Quneitra countryside and the Daraa governorate, according to local sources.
This overnight operation coincided with significant aerial assaults targeting areas in Daraa, al-Suweida, Quneitra, and the outskirts of Damascus.
During the attacks, Israeli drones were observed over Quneitra province, while Israeli warplanes conducted bombings in the al-Kiswah area and continued operations over Damascus. Reports indicate that at least six loud explosions were heard in the Suweida countryside amidst the airstrikes.
Israeli media cited that the strikes aimed to eliminate military infrastructures and weapons caches associated with the former Syrian regime, alongside targeting a Syrian Arab Army camp in the eastern Daraa countryside.
Israeli Security Minister Israel Katz confirmed the escalation, stating that the Israeli Air Force is executing vigorous operations in southern Syria, emphasizing that the Israeli government "will not allow southern Syria to turn into southern Lebanon."
The recent aggression follows a trend of increased Israeli military operations since the decline of Bashar al-Assad's regime, resulting in the destruction of vast segments of Syria's strategic defenses, including missile systems and air defense capabilities.
Reports from local sources indicate that the Israeli advance into northern Quneitra and Daraa represents the most significant incursion since the establishment of the new Syrian regime. Observers suggest that the current campaign is aimed at achieving comprehensive control over southern Syria. (ILKHA)
