HÜDA PAR stresses need for mother tongue rights in educational systems

Yahya Oğraş, the head of HÜDA PAR’s Education Affairs, marked ‘International Mother Language Day’ on February 21 with a statement emphasizing the universal right to use and develop one’s mother tongue in education.
Quoting the 22nd verse of Surah Rum, Oğraş highlighted that every language in the world has value and represents a unique cultural richness. He described language as the "flag, identity, and culture" of a nation, adding, “Language is as pure and halal as a mother’s white milk.”
Oğraş stressed that the right to learn and develop one's mother tongue in education should be guaranteed for all. He stated, “Every person should have the right to develop and use their mother tongue in the education process. This right is as natural and essential as breathing.” He emphasized that no language is more valuable than another, noting how language is deeply intertwined with individual identity and personal development.
Oğraş concluded his message with support for linguistic communities that are oppressed or deprived, stating:
“On International Mother Language Day, I wish a happy day to all language communities who are victimized and deprived.”
His statement highlights the ongoing importance of linguistic rights and the need to preserve cultural and language diversity. (ILKHA)
