Israeli occupation forces have surrounded Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza, demanding the immediate evacuation of all medical staff, patients, and civilians.
The move is seen as a prelude to storming the hospital, a lifeline for the sick and injured in the region.
The siege follows a deadly airstrike yesterday on the hospital, which killed five medical staff members: pediatrician Dr. Ahmad Samour, laboratory specialist Israa Abu Zayda, paramedics Abdul Majid Abu Al-Eish and Maher Al-Ajrami, and maintenance specialist Fares Al-Houdali. The attack has devastated an already strained medical facility that continues to operate under the constant threat of Israeli bombardment.
Currently, 91 patients, including critical cases, remain trapped inside the hospital, where urgent appeals for international intervention are growing louder. Essential medical supplies, food, and life-saving resources such as fuel and oxygen are critically low as Israeli forces tighten their blockade, denying all aid and support.
The hospital has been subjected to continuous attacks, including drone strikes that have targeted its grounds and roof. These assaults exacerbate an already dire humanitarian crisis, with Gaza’s healthcare system on the brink of collapse after weeks of unrelenting bombardment.
Since October 5, Israeli forces have unleashed a brutal military campaign in northern Gaza, involving indiscriminate bombings and a complete blockade of food, water, and medicine. Beit Lahiya, where Kamal Adwan Hospital is located, has borne the brunt of these attacks, which eyewitnesses describe as acts of genocide and ethnic cleansing.
Despite the constant danger, Kamal Adwan Hospital remains one of the few functioning medical facilities in northern Gaza, providing care to the sick and wounded amid overwhelming odds. Its destruction would leave countless Palestinians without access to critical healthcare.
The siege and attacks on Kamal Adwan Hospital have sparked outrage, with human rights advocates and pro-Palestinian voices calling for immediate international intervention. The targeting of medical facilities is a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, and there is growing demand for accountability for Israel’s actions in Gaza.
Activists urge global leaders, humanitarian organizations, and the international community to take swift action to end the blockade, deliver aid to those in need, and hold Israel accountable for its continued aggression.
As Gaza’s civilians face unimaginable suffering, the world watches, and the call for justice grows ever more urgent. (ILKHA)
