Israeli forces breach Syrian territory in multiple cross-border incursions in Quneitra
Israeli occupation forces carried out a series of fresh incursions into Syrian territory over the past week, marking a continued pattern of violations near the occupied Golan Heights and escalating tensions along the disengagement line.
According to local sources, on Sunday morning, an Israeli military unit crossed into the southern Quneitra countryside, briefly advancing into the Sayda al-Hanout area. Four armored vehicles reportedly set up a temporary checkpoint, inspecting civilians before retreating shortly afterward. No clashes were reported during the brief incursion.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) confirmed the incident, describing it as a “new Israeli violation” of Syrian sovereignty. The organization noted that the forces withdrew back to the occupied zone after completing their operation.
A day earlier, local Syrian sources reported that Israeli forces also entered the village of al-Samadaniyeh, located in the Quneitra countryside, at dawn. The operation involved five military vehicles and was part of what analysts see as Israel’s growing assertiveness along the border region.
In a similar incident last week, another Israeli military contingent advanced toward the village of Taranja, in the northern countryside of Quneitra, briefly stationing near Bir al-Sarbukh before returning to the occupied Golan Heights.
Observers say the repeated incursions represent a systematic attempt by Israel to extend its surveillance network and strengthen its operational control near Syrian territory under the pretext of “security monitoring.”
Earlier, on October 21, an Israeli armored unit crossed into the village of Bariqa in southwestern Quneitra, located within the UN-monitored disengagement zone, and established a temporary inspection point before pulling back.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights denounced the incursions as “direct violations” of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between Syria and Israel, urging the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) to take responsibility for documenting and preventing further breaches.
Despite the repeated violations, there has been no official response from Syrian government forces or the UN monitoring mission in the Golan Heights.
Regional analysts warn that these cross-border maneuvers underscore Israel’s increasingly aggressive military posture in occupied southern Syria, potentially setting the stage for broader confrontation amid the fragile security environment along the Golan frontier. (ILKHA)
