Israeli strikes hit excavators, kill one in southern Lebanon

At least one person was martyred and five others were injured early Saturday morning as Israeli warplanes launched a new wave of airstrikes targeting the southern Lebanese region between Musaylih and al-Najariya.
According to local sources, the latest aggression specifically targeted excavation machinery and bulldozers operating in the area. The bombardment caused severe damage to the main road connecting the cities of Saida and Nabatieh, rendering it impassable. Civil defense teams and local authorities have since begun intensive efforts to clear the debris and reopen the critical transportation route.
Residents described the attack as part of “Israel’s systematic campaign to obstruct reconstruction and recovery efforts” in southern Lebanon, which has faced repeated assaults despite the ceasefire agreement signed on November 27, 2024.
Lebanese media reported that the Israeli occupation forces have continued to breach the truce through intermittent shelling and targeted aggression across multiple border towns and villages. The latest strikes come amid heightened tension and ongoing Israeli military activity along the southern frontier.
Just days earlier, on October 8, an Israeli quadcopter carried out four consecutive attacks on the border town of Houla, beginning with the dropping of a stun grenade and later targeting a local café. The attacks caused material damage and sowed panic among residents, who have endured nearly a year of intermittent bombardments.
Observers in Lebanon say the ongoing violations underscore the fragile nature of the current ceasefire and the continued threat posed to civilians and reconstruction efforts in the south.
Local authorities and humanitarian organizations have called on international mediators and the United Nations to take immediate action to halt Israel’s repeated violations and ensure the protection of Lebanese civilians living along the border. (ILKHA)
