Moscow court fines google $89,000 for internet activity violations

A Moscow court has levied a fine of 7.2 million rubles (approximately $89,000) against U.S. technology giant Google for violating Russia’s administrative code on Internet activity, officials confirmed Tuesday.
The decision marks the latest in a series of penalties imposed on the company as Russian authorities intensify efforts to regulate online platforms and enforce domestic Internet laws. Earlier this month, the same court ordered Google to pay 3.8 million rubles (about $47,000) over content-related violations.
While the court did not disclose specific details of the latest violations, the rulings highlight Moscow’s continuing campaign to tighten oversight of foreign technology firms operating within its jurisdiction.
Google has not yet issued a public response to the fines.
The case underscores growing tensions between Russia and major Western tech companies, many of which face mounting legal and financial pressure as Moscow seeks greater control over digital content and online activity. (ILKHA)
