A fire outbreak at an Islamiyya School in the Kauran Namoda local government area of Zamfara state resulted in the deaths of 17 students and left 16 others injured.
According to local sources, the fire initially began in a house adjacent to the boarding facility before rapidly spreading to the children's residence.
Local authorities confirmed the tragic loss of life, with the chairperson of Kaura-Namoda Local Government, Mannir Haidara, verifying the incident. Several of the injured children were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical treatment.
