Amid the destruction, a glimmer of hope emerges from the efforts of medical professionals sent by the Orphans Foundation (Yetimler Vakfı), a humanitarian organization committed to alleviating the plight of the oppressed.

A team of three specialist doctors—an orthopedic surgeon, a general surgeon, and a pediatric surgeon—recently entered Gaza to provide critical medical care to those injured in the ongoing Israeli bombardment. These doctors, working under harrowing conditions, have begun performing life-saving surgeries in facilities barely operational due to the deliberate targeting of hospitals by Israeli occupation forces.

Since October 7, 2023, the situation in Gaza has worsened exponentially, with most hospitals rendered inoperable. Medical professionals face immense challenges as they strive to treat the wounded amidst bombed-out infrastructure, shortages of medical supplies, and continuous airstrikes.

General Surgery Specialist Dr. Ömer Faruk Aydoğan, one of the doctors sent by the Orphans Foundation, described the conditions and procedures his team has undertaken.

“We are in Gaza, and today we performed another very special operation. In an abdominal surgery, we removed a ruptured spleen and addressed a pneumothorax (lung deflation), inserting a tube to stabilize the patient. A neurosurgeon from Germany performed brain surgery to remove a hematoma,” Aydoğan shared.

Despite the dire conditions, the team remains steadfast, performing procedures that save lives and provide hope to a beleaguered population.

The mission to Gaza is not only a testament to the dedication of the Orphans Foundation but also highlights the solidarity of conscious Muslim doctors from across the globe who have volunteered to help. Dr. Aydoğan expressed his gratitude for this global effort, wishing urgent recovery to all patients.
