Muslim communities around the globe are preparing to mark the beginning of the three holy months, Rajab, Sha’ban, and Ramadan, on Wednesday.
This spiritual period is renowned for its profound significance, offering believers an opportunity to deepen their connection with faith and prepare for the sacred month of Ramadan.
Significance of the Three Holy Months
Known as “Shuhur’u-Salasa” in Islamic literature, these months are imbued with divine mercy and blessings. Each month carries unique holy nights that are observed with reverence:
1-Laylat-ur Raghaeb (The Night of Wishes): Occurring on the first Thursday of Rajab, it is a night of special prayers and supplications, believed to fulfill the wishes of the faithful.
2-Isra and Mi’raj (The Night Journey): Celebrated on the 27th of Rajab, this night commemorates Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) miraculous journey to the heavens.
3-Laylat al-Bara’ah (The Night of Forgiveness): Observed on the 15th night of Sha’ban, it is dedicated to recitation of the Quran, prayers, and remembrance of the deceased.
4-Laylat al-Qadr (The Night of Power): One of the odd-numbered nights in the last ten days of Ramadan, it marks the revelation of the Quran and is regarded as the most blessed night of the year.
Spiritual Practices and Their Rewards
During these months, Muslims increase their acts of worship, including Quran recitation, prayers, and good deeds. The rewards for such acts multiply during this sacred time. For instance, reciting a single letter of the Quran is rewarded tenfold on ordinary days, but the rewards escalate to a hundred in Rajab, over three hundred in Sha’ban, and a thousand in Ramadan. On Laylat al-Qadr, these rewards can reach an astonishing thirty thousand-fold.
A Market for Eternal Gains
The three holy months are likened to a marketplace for the trade of the hereafter, offering unparalleled opportunities for spiritual enrichment. Believers are encouraged to engage in acts of worship with fervor, such as Quranic recitations, religious study, contemplation, and charitable deeds. The mosques become hubs of activity, filled with worshippers, illuminated with spiritual joy, and adorned with symbolic decorations like lighted quotes strung between minarets.
Fostering a Spiritual Atmosphere
Families are urged to infuse their homes with the spiritual essence of this time, involving children in the practices of prayer and Quranic recitation. Celebrating these months together strengthens familial bonds and nurtures a generation rooted in faith. Acts such as gifting children or taking them to mosques instill a love for these sacred traditions.
Supplication and Divine Mercy
The predawn hours, particularly during these months, are seen as powerful moments for supplication. Praying for oneself, the Islamic world, and all believers during this time is believed to invite divine mercy and acceptance.
An Unmissable Opportunity
The three holy months are an extraordinary gift, offering solace and a pathway to divine blessings. Muslims are encouraged to utilize this sacred period to strengthen their faith, seek forgiveness, and prepare spiritually for Ramadan. It is a time of profound reflection, where each act of worship becomes a step closer to eternal rewards and a source of peace and unity within the community. (ILKHA)
