Pakistan warns of imminent Indian military provocation amid tensions over Kashmir

Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced today that credible intelligence has uncovered India's preparations for a military strike against Pakistan within the next 24 to 36 hours.
The revelation comes amid a dangerous escalation triggered by baseless Indian accusations following a tragic incident in Indian-occupied Kashmir last week.
Rejecting New Delhi’s claims of Pakistani involvement in the attack that killed 26 tourists near Pahalgam, Tarar denounced the allegations as a “false pretext” designed to justify aggressive military actions. He firmly warned that any Indian "military adventurism" would be met with a “decisive and assured” response from Pakistan, reaffirming the nation's unwavering commitment to defend its sovereignty and regional peace.
India’s Foreign Ministry has not yet responded to inquiries regarding Pakistan's warnings.
The current tensions erupted after the Pahalgam attack, the deadliest on civilians in the disputed territory in two decades. Instead of pursuing a transparent investigation, Indian authorities reacted with widespread crackdowns, detaining over 1,500 people, demolishing the homes of suspects—often without proof—and fanning anti-Pakistani hysteria. Among those targeted, two were reportedly Pakistani nationals and one was from Indian-occupied Kashmir, though authorities admit the fourth alleged attacker remains unidentified.
Despite initial media reports attempting to tie the attack to Pakistan, no credible evidence has been presented. The Resistance Front, an indigenous Kashmiri group often wrongfully linked to Pakistan, categorically denied any involvement, exposing the hollowness of India's accusations.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, known for his hardline stance, vowed harsh retaliation, escalating fears of another reckless military misadventure similar to India's unauthorized strikes in 2016 and 2019—both of which Pakistan responded to with maturity and strength.
Small-scale firing incidents along the Line of Control have already been reported in recent days, further stoking fears of conflict. However, Pakistan has consistently emphasized its desire for regional stability and peace, while making clear that it will not tolerate aggression.
The Kashmir dispute, a result of decades of Indian occupation and broken UN resolutions, continues to be a flashpoint. Observers warn that irresponsible actions by India risk dragging South Asia’s two nuclear-armed states into deeper conflict—at a time when dialogue and justice are urgently needed.
Pakistan has called on the international community to take note of India’s dangerous designs and to pressure New Delhi to de-escalate tensions through peaceful means. (ILKHA)
