Palestinian court gives Abu Shabab 10 days to face treason charges

The Joint Operations Room of Palestinian resistance groups has publicly denounced Yasser Abu Shabab, branding him a “traitor for hire” and accusing him of collaborating with Israeli forces to commit crimes against civilians and resistance fighters.
In a statement released on Sunday, the coalition of factions declared that Abu Shabab and his supporters have “strayed from the path of the homeland” and lost their Palestinian identity, vowing “no mercy” for those aiding the Israeli occupation.
The Revolutionary Court of the Military Judiciary at Gaza’s Ministry of Interior has issued a 10-day ultimatum, starting July 2, 2025, for Abu Shabab to surrender and face trial. The charges, based on the Palestinian Penal Code No. 16 of 1960 and the Revolutionary Procedures Law of 1979, include forming an armed gang allegedly directed by Israel in eastern Rafah Governorate.
The group is accused of assassinating civilians, targeting resistance fighters, and stealing humanitarian aid entering through the Kerem Shalom crossing. Failure to surrender will result in Abu Shabab being declared a fugitive and tried in absentia. The court also warned that harboring him is a punishable offense and urged the public to report his whereabouts.
Abu Shabab, born February 27, 1990, has been wanted by Gaza’s security forces since late 2024. The resistance notes that his actions are part of an Israeli strategy to destabilize Gaza and worsen the humanitarian crisis affecting over two million Palestinians.
The statement praised the resilience of Gaza’s clans and families, commending their ability to “distinguish between mercenaries and those who genuinely serve them.” The resistance emphasized that traitors like Abu Shabab face “the dustbin of history, marked forever with shame before God and their people.” (ILKHA)
