Israeli occupation forces shot and killed a Palestinian man, Hassan Ali Hassan Rabay’a, early Saturday during a violent raid on the town of Meithalun, south of Jenin, in the occupied West Bank.
Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli forces stormed the town in large numbers, surrounding Rabay’a’s home and unleashing heavy gunfire. The 37-year-old father was critically injured inside his house and later detained by Israeli soldiers. Despite his injuries, Rabay’a was denied medical attention and later died, highlighting the ongoing disregard for Palestinian lives by the occupation forces.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society confirmed that its teams were prevented from accessing Rabay’a to provide life-saving aid. This obstruction of humanitarian assistance is yet another example of systematic violations of international law by Israeli forces, further endangering Palestinian civilians during military raids.
Rabay’a’s death is a tragic echo of his son, 15-year-old Ali Rabay’a, who was killed by Israeli forces in a similar raid on Meithalun in July 2022. The loss of both father and son underscores the devastating impact of Israel’s brutal occupation on Palestinian families.
In addition to the killing, local sources reported that Israeli forces seized a vehicle during the raid, adding to the pattern of property confiscation and destruction that often accompanies these military operations.
Israeli forces have ramped up their raids in the occupied West Bank, resulting in a surge of civilian deaths and widespread devastation in Palestinian communities. These actions, widely condemned by human rights organizations, highlight the oppressive and violent nature of Israel’s occupation.
Palestinian activists and officials have called for urgent international intervention to hold Israel accountable for its repeated violations of international law and to end the systematic targeting of Palestinian civilians.
The killing of Hassan Rabay’a is yet another reminder of the human cost of Israel’s occupation and the urgent need for justice and accountability in the face of ongoing violence against Palestinians. (ILKHA)
