Qatar to host emergency Arab-Islamic summit after Israeli strike on Doha

Qatar will host an emergency Arab-Islamic summit today and tomorrow in response to the recent Israeli airstrike on Doha, which targeted homes of Hamas leaders, the Foreign Ministry announced.
Majed al-Ansari, spokesperson for the Qatari Foreign Ministry, told the Qatar News Agency that foreign ministers from Arab and Islamic states will meet today to draft a declaration ahead of the leaders’ summit scheduled for tomorrow.
Al-Ansari stressed that the summit comes at a critical moment, reflecting solidarity with Qatar against what he described as “cowardly Israeli aggression” and a collective rejection of what he called the “state terrorism” practiced under occupation.
According to Qatari officials, the preparatory meeting of foreign ministers will take place today, followed by the full summit tomorrow.
The Israeli strike, carried out last Tuesday, targeted a building in the Qatari capital where senior Hamas officials were reportedly discussing a U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal. The attack killed five Hamas members and a Qatari security officer, while key members of the Hamas negotiation team survived.
The unprecedented strike drew swift condemnation from Qatar and other members of the international community. (ILKHA)
