Israeli airstrikes targeting the al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip have killed six Palestinians, including an infant, and injured scores more, according to local sources.
Israeli warplanes targeted a house belonging to the al-Khatib family in the al-Bureij camp, resulting in the deaths of four people, including an infant, and injuring several others. Another airstrike hit a house belonging to the an-Najjar family in the same camp, killing two people and causing further injuries.
In addition to the strikes on al-Bureij, Israeli fighter jets and artillery bombarded residential buildings in Al-Mughraqa, north of the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip. The occupation forces also targeted the al-Mawasi area, north of Rafah, and a gathering of people in the Shuja'iya neighborhood, east of Gaza, killing two more people and injuring several others.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza, resulting in the deaths of at least 37,337 Palestinians and injuries to over 85,229 others. The conflict has also left approximately 10,000 people unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip. Palestinian and international organizations report that the majority of those killed and wounded are women and children.
The Israeli aggression has forcibly displaced nearly two million people from across the Gaza Strip. The vast majority of the displaced have been pushed into the densely crowded southern city of Rafah, near the border with Egypt, marking the largest mass exodus of Palestinians since the 1948 Nakba.
Israel is currently being tried before the International Court of Justice for genocide against Palestinians. The ongoing conflict and its severe humanitarian impact have drawn widespread condemnation and calls for immediate action to protect civilians and end the violence.
The situation in Gaza remains dire as Israeli airstrikes continue to inflict heavy casualties and cause widespread destruction. The international community is urged to intervene to halt the violence and address the urgent humanitarian needs of the Palestinian population. (ILKHA)
