A devastating plane crash at Muan International Airport has left at least 120 people dead, with 59 still missing.

Jeju Air flight 7C2216, a Boeing 737-800 arriving from Bangkok, Thailand, experienced landing gear problems and attempted a "belly landing," but veered off the runway and struck airport structures before bursting into flames.  

Fire authorities have recovered 120 bodies from the crash site, including 54 men, 57 women, and nine victims whose gender could not be immediately determined. Only two passengers have survived and are currently hospitalized with moderate to severe injuries.

Rescue teams are continuing their search efforts, but fire officials have informed families that the chances of finding any survivors among the missing are "virtually none" due to the severity of the crash and the extensive fire.

Many of the passengers aboard the flight were families returning from Christmas vacations in Thailand. The aircraft was carrying 175 passengers (173 South Koreans and two Thai nationals) and six crew members.
