Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez to visit Türkiye for key talks with Erdoğan

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez is scheduled to arrive in Türkiye on Friday for a high-level meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, according to reports from Spanish media outlets, including El País.
The visit, confirmed by Spain’s presidential office La Moncloa, aims to address a broad range of bilateral and regional issues, with a central focus on the ongoing Israeli military assault on Gaza.
According to El País, the Gaza conflict — and Spain’s growing rift with the Israeli government — will dominate the agenda. Sánchez is reportedly seeking to deepen cooperation with countries critical of the occupation regime’s actions in the besieged Palestinian territory.
La Moncloa stated that the leaders will also discuss “bilateral issues of mutual interest, as well as current regional and international developments.”
Sánchez’s visit comes amid heightened tensions between Spain and Israel, following Madrid’s increasingly vocal criticism of the war in Gaza. Turkey has also maintained a strong position in condemning Israeli military actions and calling for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian access.
The Ankara meeting is expected to strengthen political dialogue and potentially align both countries on international platforms advocating for peace and justice in Gaza. (ILKHA)
