The ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has led to a significant humanitarian crisis, with over 343,000 individuals forced to flee their homes in eastern Gezira State and other parts of the region.
According to the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM), between October 20 and November 13, 2024, a total of 68,801 households were displaced from various areas in Aj Jazirah State due to increased insecurity and intensified clashes. These displaced individuals have sought refuge in 38 localities across seven different states.
The situation remains dire, with continued displacement reported even after November 13. The DTM's field teams observed that an additional 208,068 individuals were displaced from various locations in Aj Jazirah State.
The displacement crisis has been particularly severe in Sharg Aj Jazirah and Um Algura localities, where over 135,000 people were forced to flee their homes between October 20 and 30. This includes residents of Tamboul, Rufa'ah, and Junayd Towns, as well as numerous villages in the surrounding areas.
The humanitarian situation in the region is worsening, with urgent needs for food, water, shelter, and medical care. International organizations and aid agencies are working to provide assistance to the displaced population, but the escalating violence continues to hinder relief efforts. (ILKHA)
