The Syrian Resistance has claimed responsibility for an attack on Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in the buffer zone of the Syrian Golan Heights, marking the first such incident in months.
According to local sources, armed fighters opened fire on Israeli troops in the Quneitra countryside late last night. The group declared that it has officially launched its operations against the Israeli presence in the region and vowed to continue targeting occupation forces through ambushes and surprise attacks.
An Israeli Army Radio correspondent confirmed the incident, stating, "Armed men opened fire on an Israeli force in the Quneitra countryside. This is the first time our forces have been targeted after two months of operating freely in Syria."
The Israeli military responded to the attack by firing toward the source of the gunfire and reported no casualties. However, Israeli security officials expressed concern over the development, with Army Radio noting, "It is too early to determine whether this signals the beginning of an organized resistance against Israeli military activity in Syria, but the incident is certainly alarming."
This attack comes after Israeli forces deployed to the buffer zone along the Syria-Israel border last month, following the collapse of the Assad regime. With tensions rising, analysts suggest that further confrontations between the Syrian Resistance and Israeli forces could escalate in the coming weeks. (ILKHA)
