Ukraine to resume arms exports of domestically produced weapons

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has declared that his country will resume exporting domestically produced weapons, lifting restrictions imposed under martial law following Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.
Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Zelensky said the decision was aimed at demonstrating to partners that Ukraine’s defense industry can provide modern and reliable systems tested on the battlefield.
“We decided to open our arms exports. These are powerful systems tested in real war,” Zelensky announced, emphasizing that Kyiv is ready to share its proven technologies.
The president added that Ukrainian weapons should be seen as competitive on the international market. “You don’t have to start from scratch,” he said. “We are ready to share what has already been proven effective in protecting the real world.”
Ukraine imposed strict controls on its arms exports in 2022, with all domestic production redirected toward the country’s defense needs. The move to reopen exports marks a significant shift, signaling Kyiv’s intention to position itself as not only a consumer of international military aid but also a global supplier of combat-tested defense systems.
Analysts suggest the step could both strengthen Ukraine’s defense industry and bolster ties with international partners, as Kyiv looks to showcase itself as a capable and innovative weapons producer amid its ongoing war with Russia. (ILKHA)
