Yemen’s drone strikes hit Israeli military targets in support of Gaza

The Yemeni Armed Forces have announced a series of successful military operations targeting Israeli military and commercial interests, marking a significant escalation in Yemen’s regional response to the Israeli regime’s ongoing war on Gaza.
In a televised address on Tuesday, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, confirmed that precision drone strikes had hit a critical Israeli military site in the southern occupied Naqab (Negev) region. A second drone operation simultaneously targeted the Israeli port of Umm al-Rashrash (also known as Eilat), with both attacks reportedly achieving their intended military objectives.
“These operations come in the context of our legitimate response to the Zionist entity’s brutal aggression against Gaza,” General Saree declared. “As long as the siege on the Palestinian people continues, and the bombs fall on the children of Gaza, our operations will not cease.”
General Saree emphasized that the armed forces of Yemen will continue to launch drone and naval operations as part of what he described as a “religious, moral, and humanitarian duty” toward the oppressed people of Palestine. The operations, he noted, are coordinated within the broader axis of resistance across the region.
The Yemeni Armed Forces have previously stated that their Red Sea campaign specifically targets vessels with direct or indirect links to the Israeli regime or its allies in the Gaza assault. Recent actions included attacks on the Magic Seas and the ETERNITY C, both intercepted while en route to the occupied port of Umm al-Rashrash.
Yemen’s National Salvation Government in Sanaa reaffirmed that these operations are part of a wider military and political strategy aimed at pressuring Tel Aviv to cease its aggression on Gaza and lift the long-standing blockade that has strangled the Palestinian enclave for over a decade.
On Wednesday, the Yemeni Armed Forces released video evidence confirming the successful targeting and sinking of the ETERNITY C, a commercial vessel bound for Israel. The footage was disseminated by Yemen’s official military media outlet and shows the moments before and during the naval engagement.
According to the video and accompanying military statements, the Yemeni Naval Forces made multiple attempts to contact the ETERNITY C’s captain using its maritime call-sign D5DC2. The communications informed the vessel that it was being targeted due to its destination and offered evacuation assistance for the crew. The BARYON, a third vessel, was also dispatched for rescue operations.
The captain of the ETERNITY C was heard confirming the vessel’s identity, but no further communication was received. Yemeni military officials underlined that “no harm was intended toward the crew,” stressing that their safety was a priority and that the mission’s goal was solely to disrupt Israeli-bound maritime traffic.
Yemen’s growing role in the regional resistance axis has drawn praise from Palestinian groups and solidarity movements around the Muslim world. The Houthi-led government in Sanaa has made it clear that its military operations in the Red Sea and southern Israel are designed to break the siege on Gaza and confront Zionist military and economic interests wherever possible.
“This is a war of justice,” said Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein al-Ezzi in a separate statement. “We will continue to stand by our Palestinian brothers until the last bomb falls and the last blockade is lifted.”
Yemen’s latest actions underscore its emergence as a strategic actor in the expanding regional confrontation over Palestine—willing and able to challenge Israeli interests far beyond the borders of Gaza. (ILKHA)
