Turkish airlines orders 225 boeing jets in record-breaking deal

Turkish Airlines and Boeing announced today a landmark agreement under which the Turkish flag carrier will acquire up to 75 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, marking its largest ever widebody order with the U.S. aerospace giant.
The deal includes 35 787-9 aircraft, 15 787-10s, and options for an additional 25 Dreamliners to modernize and expand the airline’s fleet.
In a separate announcement, Turkish Airlines confirmed its intention to purchase up to 150 more 737 MAX single-aisle jets, which, once finalized, will represent the carrier’s largest Boeing single-aisle order. Together, these commitments will effectively double the airline’s Boeing fleet, supporting the expansion of its global network.
“This landmark agreement represents much more than a fleet growth. It reflects our leadership in the industry and dedication to innovation and operational excellence,” said Prof. Ahmet Bolat, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board. “The addition of these advanced Boeing aircraft will enhance our operational capabilities and support our 2033 Vision to expand the fleet to 800 aircraft.”
Currently, Turkish Airlines operates more than 200 Boeing jets, including the 787-9, 777, 737 MAX, Next-Generation 737, and 777 Freighter. Adding the larger 787-10 will enable the airline to increase passenger and cargo capacity on high-demand routes between Istanbul and destinations in the U.S., Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, while improving fuel efficiency.
The 787 family also provides passengers with enhanced comfort, including the largest windows of any widebody jet, lower cabin pressure for less dry air, and technology that senses and counters turbulence for a smoother ride.
Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said, “We are honored that Turkish Airlines has once again chosen the 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX to power its future growth. With more than 1,200 Dreamliners delivered worldwide, these aircraft serve approximately 500,000 passengers daily, connecting the most countries of any widebody fleet.”
Boeing has been a partner to Türkiye for 80 years, providing commercial jets, defense platforms, and aerospace services. The company has invested $2 billion in Türkiye’s supply chain, creating nearly 5,000 local jobs and integrating Turkish industry into the global aerospace ecosystem.
The new order is expected to support more than 123,000 jobs across the U.S. while promoting innovation and sustainability within the global aviation sector. Boeing highlighted its ongoing commitment to safety, quality, and integrity, reinforcing its role as a leading aerospace manufacturer and exporter.
With this historic agreement, Turkish Airlines solidifies its position as one of the world’s most connected airlines, while Boeing strengthens its long-standing partnership with Türkiye and its aviation industry. (ILKHA)
