Türkiye records 165,734 road motor vehicle registrations in January
The Turkish Statistical Institute announced on Tuesday that 165,734 road motor vehicle registrations were recorded in January.
Cars accounted for 62.9% of total registrations, followed by motorcycles (16.7%), small trucks (14.7%), trucks (2.3%), tractors (1.9%), minibuses (1.0%), buses (0.4%), and special-purpose vehicles (0.1%).
Compared to the previous month, the number of road motor vehicle registrations decreased by 30.7%. However, small truck registrations increased by 13.3%, while motorcycles saw a sharp decline of 70.8%, followed by tractors (-57.7%), special-purpose vehicles (-43.5%), minibuses (-12.7%), trucks (-5.5%), cars (-4.1%), and buses (-3.6%).
In January, compared to the same month in the previous year, total registrations decreased by 22.4%. The biggest declines were recorded for special-purpose vehicles (-67.5%), motorcycles (-54.2%), tractors (-33.0%), trucks (-24.5%), buses (-22.1%), minibuses (-16.1%), small trucks (-9.8%), and cars (-7.9%).
As of the end of January, the total number of registered road motor vehicles in Türkiye reached 31,463,242. Cars represented 51.9% of this total, followed by motorcycles (20.0%), small trucks (15.0%), tractors (7.2%), trucks (3.2%), minibuses (1.7%), buses (0.7%), and special-purpose vehicles (0.3%).
A total of 813,093 road motor vehicles were handed over during the month. Among them, cars accounted for 67.8%, followed by small trucks (15.9%), motorcycles (8.0%), tractors (3.4%), trucks (2.2%), minibuses (1.9%), buses (0.6%), and special-purpose vehicles (0.2%).
In January, 104,335 cars were registered. The leading brands among newly registered cars were Renault (15.4%), Fiat (7.8%), Volkswagen (7.0%), Peugeot (6.6%), Hyundai (6.6%), Toyota (6.5%), Skoda (4.9%), Citroen (4.8%), BYD (4.5%), Ford (4.3%), Opel (3.8%), Nissan (3.4%), Audi (2.4%), Mercedes-Benz (2.4%), Dacia (2.4%), Kia (2.2%), BMW (2.0%), Chery (1.8%), Volvo (1.3%), and Honda (1.2%). Other brands accounted for 8.9% of the total.
Among the 104,335 cars registered in January, 51.3% were gasoline-fueled, followed by hybrid cars (25.0%), electric cars (11.9%), diesel-fueled cars (10.9%), and LPG-fueled cars (0.9%). At the end of January, among the 16,336,762 registered cars, diesel cars represented 34.0%, LPG cars 31.7%, and gasoline cars 30.3%. Hybrid and electric cars accounted for 2.6% and 1.2%, respectively.
Among the newly registered cars in January, 35.1% had an engine size of 1300 cc or less, 23.1% had 1401-1500 cc, 11.5% had 1301-1400 cc, 10.2% had 1501-1600 cc, 7.7% had 1601-2000 cc, and 0.6% had engine sizes of 2001 cc and above.
Of the 104,335 cars registered, 38.8% were grey, 27.9% were white, 12.1% were blue, 11.5% were black, 4.3% were red, 3.7% were green, 0.5% were yellow, and 0.4% were brown. (ILKHA)
