Türkiye’s hazelnut exports reach $1.61 billion in first nine months of 2025

Türkiye earned $1 billion 610 million 163 thousand from hazelnut exports between January and September 2025, according to a statement released by the Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters Association (KFMIB).
The report detailed that 188,731 tons of hazelnuts were exported during the nine-month period, contributing significantly to the country’s agricultural export revenue. However, the figures reflect a decline in both export volume and income compared to the same period last year.
In the January–September 2024 period, Türkiye had exported 213,073 tons of hazelnuts, earning $1 billion 733 million 717 thousand in revenue. The decrease highlights ongoing challenges faced by exporters, including global market fluctuations, price instability, and changing demand trends in major importing countries such as Italy, Germany, and France.
Despite the drop, Türkiye continues to maintain its position as the world’s largest hazelnut producer and exporter, meeting about 70% of global demand. Industry representatives emphasized the importance of supporting value-added production, diversification of export markets, and enhanced branding to strengthen Türkiye’s competitiveness in the international arena.
The Black Sea region, particularly Ordu, Giresun, and Trabzon, remains the heart of Türkiye’s hazelnut industry, employing tens of thousands of farmers and contributing billions to the national economy each year.
Exporters expressed optimism for a rebound in the final quarter of the year, citing improved weather conditions, stable yield expectations, and potential new trade agreements that could boost sales to emerging markets in Asia and the Middle East.
KFMIB also underscored the importance of sustainability and quality certification programs to ensure that Turkish hazelnuts continue to meet international standards and maintain their global reputation as a premium agricultural product. (ILKHA)
