Türkiye’s total turnover rises 37.5% year-on-year in September
Türkiye's total economic turnover registered a powerful 37.5% increase in September 2025 compared to the same month last year, according to official data released on Tuesday.
The Total Turnover Index, which aggregates data from the industry, construction, trade, and services sectors, also showed a healthy 4.6% rise on a monthly basis, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) said in its statement.
The annual figures for September point to broad-based economic strength across all major sectors. The trade sector led the expansion with a striking 41.6% year-over-year increase. It was closely followed by the services sector, which grew by 37.0%. The construction and industry sectors also posted robust annual gains of 32.8% and 30.5%, respectively.
A more detailed look at the monthly data reveals a mixed performance. The trade sector continued to show the strongest momentum, surging by 7.7% from August to September. Industry and services also saw monthly growth, rising by 2.8% and 1.9%, respectively.
In contrast, the construction sector was the sole outlier, contracting by 6.5% on a monthly basis. This decline suggests a potential cooling or adjustment within the construction industry despite its strong annual performance.
The data provides a key indicator of the pace of commercial activity in the Turkish economy, reflecting the total value of sales and services rendered. The strong annual growth across the board signals a significantly higher level of economic activity compared to the previous year. (ILKHA)
