Türkiye’s services exports reach $117.2 billion in 2024

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced Tuesday that Türkiye’s services exports rose by 11% in 2024, reaching 117.2 billion dollars, while services imports increased by 12% to 55.8 billion dollars.
According to the International Trade in Services Statistics, services exports were up from 105.5 billion dollars in 2023, while imports rose from 49.9 billion dollars the previous year.
Travel services remained Türkiye’s largest export item, accounting for 48% of total services exports in 2024, slightly up from 47.4% in 2023. Transport services ranked second with 35%, while “other business services” followed with a 5.9% share.
Transport services exports rose by 7%, from 38.3 billion dollars in 2023 to 41.0 billion dollars in 2024. Exports of telecommunication, computer, and information services also saw strong growth, jumping 37.8% year-on-year to reach 5.3 billion dollars.
On the import side, transport services had the largest share with 38.3% of total services imports in 2024, up from 36.8% in 2023. “Other business services” followed with 16.4%, while travel ranked third with a 13.2% share.
Trade in services, excluding travel, was conducted primarily with the European Union. In 2024, Türkiye exported 21.8 billion dollars worth of services to the EU and imported 20.5 billion dollars. Other European countries accounted for 8.4 billion dollars in exports and 5.1 billion dollars in imports.
The EU remained Türkiye’s leading partner, representing 35.8% of services exports and 42.3% of imports in 2024.
Germany was Türkiye’s top export partner for services (excluding travel), with 7.5 billion dollars and a 12.3% share, followed by the USA (11.8%) and the UK (6.1%).
On the import side, Ireland ranked first, accounting for 9.1% of Türkiye’s total services imports with 4.4 billion dollars. The USA came second with 7.8% (3.8 billion dollars), closely followed by Germany with 7.8% (3.8 billion dollars). (ILKHA)
