Türkiye's construction costs surge 22.57% annually in October
Türkiye’s construction sector faced continued cost pressures in October 2025, with the construction cost index (CCI) rising both on a monthly and annual basis, according to data released Wednesday by the Turkish Statistical Institute.
The institute reported that the overall Construction Cost Index increased by 0.98% compared to the previous month and surged by 22.57% year-on-year. Rising prices for construction materials and labour remain the main drivers of the upward trend. On a monthly basis, the materials index rose by 1.18%, while the labour index increased by 0.59%. Compared with October last year, material costs were up 18.68%, and labour costs climbed 30.49%.
The building construction cost index also showed strong growth. It increased by 0.95% month-on-month and 22.29% year-on-year. In this category, material costs rose by 1.18% on a monthly basis, while labour costs increased by 0.55%. Annually, building material prices were up 18.42%, and labour expenses increased by 29.94%.
Meanwhile, the civil engineering construction cost index recorded even sharper increases. It rose by 1.05% compared with the previous month and 23.48% compared with the same month of the previous year. Material costs in civil engineering projects increased by 1.20% month-on-month, while labour costs rose by 0.73%. On an annual basis, material prices climbed 19.52%, and labour costs jumped 32.46%.
The latest data highlights persistent inflationary pressure in Türkiye’s construction sector, driven largely by rising labour expenses and material input costs, posing ongoing challenges for infrastructure projects and housing development nationwide. (ILKHA)
