Türkiye’s agricultural input prices rise 33.15% annually in December
Türkiye’s agricultural input prices climbed sharply in December 2025, posting a 33.15% annual increase, according to data released Friday by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
The Agricultural Input Price Index (Agricultural-IPI, 2020=100) rose 1.30% on a monthly basis compared to November, while increasing 33.15% compared to December of the previous year. The index also recorded a 32.50% rise based on twelve-month moving averages.
By main expenditure groups, goods and services currently consumed in agriculture increased by 1.14% month-on-month, while goods and services contributing to agricultural investment rose by 2.28%.
On an annual basis, goods and services currently consumed in agriculture saw a 34.48% increase compared to the same month of the previous year. Meanwhile, agricultural investment-related goods and services posted a comparatively lower but still significant annual rise of 25.56%.
Among subgroups, veterinary expenses registered the sharpest increases. On an annual basis, veterinary services surged by 72.78%, marking the highest rate of increase among all categories.
Veterinary costs also led monthly gains, rising 6.43% in December compared to the previous month — the strongest monthly jump recorded among subgroups.
The continued rise in input costs — including feed, fertilizers, energy, equipment, and veterinary services — places additional financial pressure on farmers and livestock producers. Elevated production expenses can influence overall agricultural output prices and potentially affect food inflation trends in the coming months.
Economists note that sustained increases in agricultural input prices may have broader implications for consumer markets, particularly in a context where food security and affordability remain key economic concerns.
