ANFIDAP urges prosecution of Turkish-Israeli dual citizens for Gaza genocide involvement

The Ankara Palestine Solidarity Platform (ANFIDAP), a coalition of 33 Turkish civil society organizations, has called for urgent legal action against Turkish-Israeli dual citizens who have participated in or supported Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.
In a strongly worded statement released as the Israeli assault nears its 600th day, ANFIDAP emphasized that individuals holding dual citizenship who joined the Israeli army or openly supported the occupation’s massacres on social media are liable under Turkish law and must be prosecuted for their involvement in genocide.
The platform cited Article 13 of the Turkish Penal Code, which explicitly mandates the prosecution of Turkish citizens involved in crimes such as genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity—regardless of where the crimes are committed.
According to a comprehensive report released by ANFIDAP, several Turkish-Israeli dual citizens have directly participated in the Israeli military operations that led to the mass killing of civilians, including thousands of children in Gaza. Others, while not physically present, have provided ideological and logistical support through online platforms, glorifying war crimes and expressing open allegiance to the Israeli military campaign.
“These individuals shamelessly celebrate their role in an occupying army responsible for mass killings,” ANFIDAP said, warning that their social media activity alone provides strong legal grounds for prosecution. “There are those who posted photos in military uniforms with weapons in hand, boasting about participating in the invasion of Gaza.”
The statement further urged Turkish judicial authorities to act swiftly and initiate investigations, warning that continued inaction damages public trust and undermines Türkiye’s legal commitment to upholding international justice. ANFIDAP also called on the Grand National Assembly to expedite a proposed law specifically addressing crimes committed by dual citizens, saying it would help facilitate “a more comprehensive and effective judicial process.”
ANFIDAP officials also shared the names of individuals suspected of direct involvement in the occupation army and the civilian organizations that facilitated their participation. They criticized the lack of movement from Türkiye’s public prosecutors, saying that failing to prosecute such grave crimes is tantamount to silent complicity.
The platform’s demand comes amid growing global recognition of Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocidal. Both the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) have formally initiated proceedings against Israeli leaders for war crimes and genocide, providing further legal foundation for domestic prosecutions.
“Türkiye has both the legal and moral obligation to act,” ANFIDAP concluded. “Justice cannot be delayed when the crime is genocide, and the criminals walk among us, shielded by dual citizenship.”
The call is expected to further intensify pressure on Turkish lawmakers and judicial authorities to take meaningful action, as public outrage over Israel’s actions in Gaza continues to grow across Türkiye. (ILKHA)
