Dr. Hawramani: We should take responsibility for ensuring the unity of the Muslim Ummah

Dr. Abduddaim Maruf Havramani, one of the prominent scholars of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, has participated in the 6th Islamic Scholars Meeting that was annually organized by İTTİHADÜL ULUMA (The Union of Islamic Scholars and Madrasahs).
Hawramani gave a presentation on “What Practical Steps Should Be Taken for the Unity of the Islamic Ummah” at the meeting, which was held via video conference this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Unity of Ummah cannot be delayed. It is a responsibility that falls on our shoulders. It is our responsibility to create the atmosphere and environment that will contribute to it. Undoubtedly, the unity of Muslims is the fastest and most correct way to achieve Islamic awakening and resurrection,” Hawramani said.
Hawramani underlined that working for Islamic brotherhood and unity is a religious obligation for Muslims in this century, and added: Because working in the way of Islam, making jihad in the way of Allah, defending the sacred values, and conforming obligations are the core beliefs and practices of Islam. And the only way to bring them into existence is undoubtedly unity. Unity is a priority, obligatory, sacred. What we mean by the unity of the Islamic Ummah is the unity of the hearts of the members of the Islamic Ummah. It means the spread of friendship, love, and cooperation among them. It means that all Muslims, from east and west, help each other in terms of civilization, economy, politics, and military. Allah says, ‘Hold fast to the rope of Allah all together, and do not be divided.’ The Prophet said that ‘Believers are like a body in loving each other, pitying each other and protecting each other. When one part of the body is sick, the other parts of the body suffer from insomnia and fever because of this.’”
“Islamic unity is not just a slogan”
Stating that Islamic unity is not just a slogan, on the contrary, there is a sense of unity among Muslims despite living in different parts of the world, Dr Havramani said: “We should be careful about conflict and separation. By separation, I do not mean a spatial difference or the separation of our languages. This is a conflict between hearts. We see how the Islamic Ummah has lost its influence and prestige on a global scale, both militarily and politically. Undoubtedly, the unity of Muslims is the fast and correct way to achieve Islamic awakening and resurrection. But our enemies guess what we can do. And based on this, they are working to break the ties we are trying to create between us. They use all their power to throw us back, to separate us. The saddest thing is that the young people of the Islamic Ummah do not know the value of unity and adopt extreme views in Islamic civilization. Young people who die for the religion of Allah but unfortunately do not realize the value of unity paint a deplorable picture.”
“Unity of Ummah can’t be delayed”
Hawramani stated that the means, causes, and occasions needed to ensure the Unity of the Islamic Ummah are innumerable and that they change according to the conditions of the age, continuing:
"Unity of Ummah cannot be delayed. It is a responsibility that falls on our shoulders. It is our responsibility to create the atmosphere and environment that will contribute to it. Undoubtedly, the unity of Muslims is the fastest and most correct way to achieve Islamic awakening and resurrection. Either this or that way, we have to ensure it through organizations, activities, scientific, educational, and political activities. One of these activities is the establishment of educational institutions. Especially with practical training, it can be acted upon to draw a moral framework and spread morality in the Islamic society. Institutions that will establish and spread the moral values of Islam are one of the most important duties. We also should establish independent media associations that will set an example. By this, I mean professional and reliable media associations. They will convey the facts regarding Islamic institutions to the public and will build consciousness among the people for the creation of unity in all its different aspects. in addition to these, Muslims should make frequent visits to each other's countries. Through the visits, economic, political, scientific and aid-oriented unions can be established, so that the troubles of Islam can be overcome and unity of Ummah can be achieved.” (ILKHA)
