Thousands demand immediate action to stop Gaza starvation at Diyarbakır rally

The Prophet Lovers Foundation organized a massive rally in Diyarbakır on Sunday evening, answering HAMAS’s global call for coordinated action to break the siege and confront the ongoing Israeli genocide in the Palestinian enclave.
The demonstration, which drew thousands of impassioned citizens, filled Diyarbakır’s main square with the sound of takbirs, chants for Palestinian resistance, and fierce denunciations of the silence of Arab and Islamic governments in the face of Israel’s relentless aggression.
Carrying Palestinian flags, banners, and placards denouncing the Israeli occupation, participants condemned the humanitarian catastrophe that has unfolded in Gaza over the past 21 months—one of the longest and most devastating sieges in modern history.
‘Words Are No Longer Enough—Action Is Urgent’
Addressing the rally before the press statement, Ömer Çelik, President of the Martyrs’ Caravan Platform and member of the Board of Directors of the Prophet Lovers Foundation, saluted the Palestinian mujahideen who continue to resist despite near-total isolation.
“A handful of brave heroes are fighting for the honour and dignity of the entire Islamic Ummah,” Çelik declared. “Meanwhile, in a so-called Islamic world of 2 billion people, food, medicine, and water have run out, the wounded are untreated, and all we do is talk, chant slogans, and issue condemnations.”
He criticized the cowardice of Muslim rulers, accusing them of bending to Israeli and American dominance: “Those with the means to act have surrendered to Israeli hegemony. They watch this genocide unfold like spectators at a theatre.”
Citing historical comparisons, Çelik noted: “Five powerful Arab armies could not withstand Israel for six days in 1967. Yet these fighters in Gaza—blockaded, starved, and bombarded—have endured for two years. This endurance itself is a miracle.”
‘Arab Leaders Have Betrayed the Ummah’
Çelik delivered a stinging rebuke to Arab leaders, accusing them of not just abandoning Gaza, but of actively facilitating Israel’s crimes through complicity.
“They gather under the banner of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, issue shallow statements of condemnation, and then return to their palaces. In reality, their statements are not for Israel’s crimes—they are condemning us, condemning resistance, signalling to Israel that it has not killed enough,” Çelik said.
He reminded the crowd of early statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claiming Jordan, Saudi Arabia, part of Egypt, and southeastern Turkey as part of Israel’s sphere of control. “No Arab leader objected,” Çelik said. “By their silence, they sold the Ummah.”
‘Gaza Reduced to Rubble, Dignity Crushed Underfoot’
Following Çelik’s address, Fatih Taş delivered the official press statement on behalf of the Prophet Lovers Foundation, opening with verses 168–169 from Surah Nisa.
“For over 21 months, the Zionist regime’s barbaric assaults have continued without pause,” Taş said. “Gaza has been reduced to rubble, its people martyred, its dignity crushed. Over 60,000 have been killed, more than 30,000 of them children. Every day, dozens of women, children, and elderly civilians are slaughtered.”
He described the unprecedented use of hunger as a weapon: “The occupation regime has turned aid points into killing fields. Over 2,000 people have been martyred at these points alone, with 8,000 more wounded. Hunger, thirst, and disease have now joined bombs and bullets as tools of genocide.”
‘Mass Deaths from Starvation Loom’
Detailing the scale of the humanitarian collapse, Taş warned of an imminent famine that could claim tens of thousands of young lives.
“In the past month, at least 150 children have died from starvation, 90 of them under the age of 18. Over 2 million people are facing acute food insecurity. If immediate action is not taken, 40,000 babies under one year and 60,000 children under two will die of hunger. Baby formula, nutritional supplements, and medicines are gone. Hospitals are overflowing with children on the verge of death,” Taş said.
He accused Islamic leaders of moral bankruptcy: “Your speeches and condemnation statements are not feeding Gaza’s starving children. Your press releases cannot stop the genocide. Shame on you, O Ummah of Muhammad, for standing by while Gaza’s children waste away.”
Urgent Demands to the Islamic and Global Community
The Prophet Lovers Foundation outlined urgent demands, including the immediate opening of border crossings without preconditions to allow unrestricted entry of food, medicine, fuel, water, and humanitarian aid. They urged the immediate lifting of Israel’s blockade to end the occupation regime’s crimes, alongside imposing sanctions and embargoes to halt all weapons transfers to Israel. The Foundation also called for political, logistical, and military support for Palestinian resistance forces, the enforcement of a permanent ceasefire, and Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza. Additionally, they advocated for the international reconstruction of Gaza under Palestinian control and the continuation of boycotts against all companies and products supporting the Israeli regime.
“Boycott is our greatest non-military weapon,” Taş declared. “This is not a temporary gesture—it must be a lifelong commitment. We will continue to defend the cause of Jerusalem with steadfastness until the occupation regime is driven into the sea and erased from the map.”
‘Things have reached a breaking point—Action Cannot Be Delayed’
As the rally concluded, chants echoed through Diyarbakır calling for the Ummah to awaken, for Arab and Muslim leaders to act, and for the siege on Gaza to be broken by any means necessary.
“Things have reached a breaking point. Humanity is dying in Gaza,” Taş warned in closing. “If serious steps are not taken immediately, the world will witness mass deaths from starvation. The Ummah will not forgive silence. The people will not forgive betrayal. Gaza will not forgive forgetfulness. Now is the time for decisive action.” (ILKHA)
