Badr Abdelatty, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates, will embark on an official visit to Türkiye on Tuesday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday.
During his stay, Abdelatty is scheduled to meet with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, in Ankara. The agenda includes a comprehensive review of bilateral relations, with a particular focus on planning for the Türkiye-Egypt High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting anticipated for next year.
The discussions between the two ministers will extend to regional issues, covering developments in Gaza, Syria, Libya, the Horn of Africa, and the Sahel region. Both ministers aim to elevate their countries' relations in 2025, marking the centennial of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Egypt.
Economic cooperation will also be a key topic, with efforts directed towards reaching a trade volume target of $15 billion. They will highlight the significance of investment promotion and discuss joint support for the reconstruction and governance of Gaza, advocating for a two-state solution.
Humanitarian aid to Gaza will remain a focal point, with Fidan emphasizing continued close cooperation and solidarity with Egypt. The dialogue will also address the stabilization and prosperity of Syria, including engagement with its new administration and the eradication of terrorism, specifically targeting groups like the PKK/YPG and ISIS (Daesh).
This visit follows previous engagements between Fidan and Abdelatty, notably during the D-8 foreign ministers' meeting in Cairo last December and their recent encounter in Riyadh on January 12 during a meeting on Syria.
The upcoming talks are expected to reinforce the strategic partnership between Türkiye and Egypt, aiming for regional stability and enhanced bilateral cooperation. (ILKHA)
