The Turkish Coast Guard rescued 33 irregular migrants, including 19 children, after their rubber boat drifted due to engine failure off the coast of Foça district in Izmir.
According to Coast Guard Command sources, another group of 26 irregular migrants, including five children, was intercepted off the coast of Selçuk district. The migrants were detected and stopped by a Coast Guard Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).
Authorities also captured 33 more irregular migrants in a separate incident off the Foça district coastline. Following an investigation, the District Gendarmerie Command detained one suspected migrant smuggler linked to the operations.
All rescued and captured migrants were handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for further processing. The Turkish Coast Guard continues its efforts to prevent irregular migration and human smuggling in the region. (ILKHA)
