Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the General Assembly of the Science Dissemination Foundation in Istanbul, expressing strong condemnation of Israel's actions in Gaza.
Addressing the assembly, Erdoğan denounced the ongoing violence in Gaza, particularly since October 7, as intolerable. He accused Israel, which he referred to as a "terror state," of pursuing a policy of genocide against Palestinians, backed by extensive military and diplomatic support from Western powers.
Erdoğan emphasized the severity of the situation, stating that Israel's attacks had resulted in the deaths of over 32,000 Palestinians and injuries to 72,000 others, with nearly two million people displaced from their homes. He described the destruction of mosques, universities, schools, and civilian residences, denouncing the brutality of targeting innocent civilians, including those queuing for food.
Asserting that such atrocities were incompatible with humanity and international law, Erdoğan compared the actions of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and his administration to those of historical dictators such as Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin.
Erdoğan criticized the international community's response to the crisis, highlighting the failure of organizations and media outlets to effectively address Israel's violations of human rights. He also lamented the lack of unity and effective action from the Islamic world in pressuring Israel and preventing oppression and massacre in Gaza.
Despite diplomatic efforts, Erdoğan expressed disappointment that innocent children in Gaza continued to suffer from hunger and violence. He called for greater solidarity and action from the Islamic world to fulfill its duty of brotherhood to the Palestinian people.
Erdoğan reiterated Turkey's commitment to holding the perpetrators of these crimes accountable before international law. The speech concluded with a call for unity and action to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. (ILKHA)
