Erdogan, Trump discuss bilateral relations and Gaza crisis in phone call

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday in a phone call initiated at Washington's request, Türkiye's Directorate of Communications announced.
During the conversation, the two leaders discussed the state of bilateral relations between Türkiye and the United States, as well as developments in Gaza.
Erdogan highlighted that his recent visit to Washington had further strengthened ties between the two nations and stressed the importance of taking concrete steps to enhance cooperation in all areas, particularly the defence industry.
Turning to the situation in Gaza, the Turkish president stated that Türkiye is working intensively to promote peace and stability not only in Gaza but across the wider region. He welcomed ongoing international initiatives aimed at achieving this goal and underscored that Türkiye has accelerated its diplomatic efforts to advance peace.
Erdogan further emphasised that halting Israel's attacks was a crucial step for the success of efforts to establish lasting peace in the region. (ILKHA)
