Erdoğan: Türkiye has no time for quarrels amid historic regional challenges
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has emphasized the need for national unity and political responsibility amid mounting regional and global challenges, stating that Türkiye cannot afford to be distracted by political disputes while historic transformations are unfolding across the Middle East and beyond.
Speaking at a press conference following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, Erdoğan said the government remains focused on safeguarding Türkiye's interests and advancing its long-term strategic goals in an increasingly volatile international environment.
“Historic Transformations Are Taking Place”
The Turkish president described the current period as one marked by profound geopolitical, economic, and diplomatic shifts, warning that conflicts and instability continue to reshape the region.
"We are well aware of the fact that we as the government and the alliance have assumed a historic responsibility in a period when historic transformations are taking place," Erdoğan said.
He argued that Türkiye is navigating a complex regional landscape at a time when multiple crises are unfolding simultaneously, from Gaza and Lebanon to Yemen and Sudan.
According to Erdoğan, ongoing conflicts across the region are part of broader efforts to redraw borders and reshape political realities through violence and instability.
"We see that the borders of our region are being sought to be redrawn with blood and tears. No matter what direction we look—from Gaza to Lebanon and from Yemen to Sudan—we are faced with different scenes of the same game," he stated.
Türkiye Pursuing Stability Amid Regional Crises
Erdoğan said Türkiye is working on multiple fronts to counter regional instability while protecting the gains achieved over the past two decades.
Highlighting the country's diplomatic initiatives, defense industry achievements, and economic resilience, he described Türkiye as a stabilizing force in a region marked by uncertainty.
"Praise be to Allah, today there is a Türkiye which has a strong diplomacy, which makes history in the defense industry, and which is an island of stability amid regional tensions," Erdoğan said.
He attributed these accomplishments to what he described as the experience, vision, and determination of the country's leadership over the past 23 years, as well as the support of the Turkish people.
The president added that the significance of Türkiye's stability becomes increasingly apparent as conflicts and crises continue to emerge in neighboring regions.
“Our Only Concern Is Türkiye”
Addressing domestic politics, Erdoğan stressed that the government remains focused on national priorities and has no intention of becoming embroiled in political disputes.
"Therefore, we do not have any time for anger, quarrels or polemics," he said. "We also do not have the luxury of responding to everyone who taunts us."
The president emphasized that the government's primary objective is the continued development and strengthening of the country.
"We have only one concern, and it is Türkiye and the construction of the Century of Türkiye," Erdoğan declared, referring to his administration's long-term vision for the country's future.
Call for Consensus on National Issues
Erdoğan also called on political actors to act responsibly and contribute constructively to issues affecting the nation as a whole.
He argued that no individual or political group has the right to divert attention from Türkiye's priorities or undermine national cohesion during a period of heightened regional uncertainty.
The president specifically highlighted the government's efforts toward what it describes as a "terror-free Türkiye" process, urging political parties and institutions to approach the matter with sincerity and avoid turning it into a subject of partisan confrontation.
"It is the duty of the political institution to address the terror-free Türkiye process away from any kind of polemics and to sincerely contribute to the solution efforts," Erdoğan said.
Government Pledges Inclusive Approach
Concluding his remarks, Erdoğan reaffirmed the government's commitment to maintaining a constructive and inclusive political approach while prioritizing national interests.
He stated that the ruling alliance would continue working to strengthen unity and social cohesion, placing Türkiye's future above short-term political calculations.
"As has been the case thus far, we as the government and the alliance will take care to be constructive, inclusive and unifying," Erdoğan said. "While doing this, we will prioritize the interests of our nation and hold Türkiye's future above any kind of political consideration."
The remarks come at a time when Türkiye is closely monitoring developments across the Middle East, while simultaneously pursuing domestic reforms and regional diplomatic initiatives aimed at strengthening security, stability, and economic growth. (ILKHA)
