A blast occurred at a Turkish Petroleum Refineries (Tupras) facility in the northwestern province of Izmit on Tuesday.
Local authorities have confirmed that the situation is under control and there have been no reports of casualties.
The explosion reportedly took place during routine maintenance drills. Tupras's own emergency teams promptly responded to the incident and extinguished the resulting fire.
While the exact cause of the explosion remains under investigation, video footage from the site shows plumes of smoke rising from the refinery. (ILKHA)
