The Human Rights and Legal Affairs Presidency of HÜDA PAR has publicly criticized the detention of Khanife Mirganieva, a 50-year-old from Uzbekistan, who was detained during a house raid at a farm in Silivri on December 30.
Despite being released by the prosecutor's office for lack of charges, she has been held at the Çatalca Removal Centre for 15 days by the Istanbul Immigration Administration.
Mirganieva, who migrated to Türkiye 11 years ago to escape persecution in Uzbekistan, is the mother of seven children, with her son-in-law and daughter being Turkish citizens. Two of her grandchildren were born in Istanbul. Her current plight is exacerbated by her health condition, including high blood pressure and diabetes, and the non-renewal of her residence permit for the past three years.
HÜDA PAR's statement highlighted the severe victimization Mirganieva is experiencing due to her health issues and called for an immediate end to "arbitrary detentions and unlawful practices" against Uzbek migrants. They urged the Directorate of Migration Management to act in compliance with legal standards and human rights principles.
"The detention of those released by the court in repatriation centers should be stopped," the statement from HÜDA PAR emphasized, demanding that Khanife Mirganieva be released and allowed to reunite with her family without further delay. (ILKHA)
