A conference titled "Gaza Resistance and Jerusalem" took place in Malatya, Türkiye, drawing public officials, NGO representatives, and citizens to discuss and express solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
The event featured a keynote address by HAMAS official Sami Abu Zuhri, who provided updates on the situation in Gaza and the progress of peace talks.
The event commenced with a solemn recitation of the Holy Quran by Ahmet Türk, setting a reflective tone for the day. Attendees were then presented with a cinevision display that depicted the struggles and sacrifices of the Palestinian people, underscoring the global significance of their cause.
A Message of Unity and Hope
Speaking on behalf of the Jerusalem Brotherhood Platform, Ömer Derin delivered the opening address, emphasizing the importance of unwavering support for Gaza. He expressed gratitude to HAMAS official Sami Abu Zuhri for his presence, stating that the day’s series of events in Malatya marked a critical step toward uniting hearts for the Palestinian struggle. “The fight for Gaza,” Derin declared, “is a fight for the liberation of Muslims worldwide.”
In his address, Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Samir Er described the Palestinian resistance as a beacon of hope for oppressed people across the globe. Reflecting on the recent Operation Aqsa Flood, he explained how it had awakened the collective spirit of the Islamic Ummah. He remarked, “The Aqsa Flood was a turning point, proving that even the most formidable powers are not invincible. It pierced the so-called impenetrable Iron Dome and exposed the vulnerabilities of those who oppress innocent people.”
Mayor Er further noted that the operation served as an inspiration for other oppressed communities worldwide, illustrating how resilience and faith could lead to unimaginable victories. “Gaza has shown us,” he said, “that a small but determined group can challenge a mighty oppressor.”
Gaza as a Global Symbol of Resistance
Taking the stage, HAMAS official Sami Abu Zuhri captivated the audience with a powerful speech that emphasized Gaza’s transformation into a symbol of global resistance. He explained that the ongoing war was not merely a conflict between HAMAS and Israel but a broader battle against an international coalition that sought to eliminate Gaza. “Gaza,” he declared, “is no longer just a small strip of land. It has become the homeland of all Muslims.”
Abu Zuhri spoke candidly about the dire situation in Gaza, describing the relentless attacks on civilians and infrastructure. Despite this, he reassured the audience that the spirit of the Palestinian people remained unbroken. Through his words, he painted a vivid picture of the resilience and determination that define Gaza’s population. He acknowledged their suffering but made it clear that the resolve to fight for freedom had only grown stronger.
He also took aim at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, pointing out the failure of Israel’s objectives in Gaza. “Netanyahu promised to destroy HAMAS and return Israeli captives safely,” Abu Zuhri said, “but today, his promises lie in ruins. HAMAS is not only present in Gaza but has become a global symbol of resistance.”
Resilience Amid Challenges
While addressing the operational strength of HAMAS, Abu Zuhri underscored the continued capabilities of the Al-Qassam Brigades. He revealed that the brigades had maintained their ability to produce weapons, recruit new fighters, and carry out operations effectively. “Netanyahu claimed he would eliminate us,” Abu Zuhri stated confidently, “but today, Al-Qassam remains strong and ready, while Israel finds itself increasingly incapacitated.”
He assured the audience that the people of Gaza would never surrender. “They can destroy our homes and bomb our neighborhoods,” he said, “but they will never see us raising white flags of surrender.”
A Ceasefire Within Reach
Abu Zuhri shared an optimistic update on the ongoing peace talks, indicating that a ceasefire was imminent. He revealed that HAMAS had demonstrated flexibility in the negotiations to protect civilians and halt the genocide being carried out against the people of Gaza. “We are doing everything in our power to ensure the safety of our people,” he said, adding that any ceasefire agreement would not signify a retreat from the broader struggle for freedom.
While the prospect of a ceasefire brought hope, Abu Zuhri made it clear that the fight for Palestine would continue. He remarked that the Aqsa Flood was merely the first step in a larger plan to liberate Palestine and Al-Aqsa Mosque. “Our struggle will not stop until every inch of our land is free,” he declared. “This is not just a battle for Gaza but for all Muslims and for the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque.”
Calls for Global Muslim Unity
The event also featured speeches that called for greater unity among Muslims and active participation in the Palestinian cause. Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Ateş urged the audience to adopt stronger measures, including boycotts, against those complicit in the oppression of Palestinians. “Even small acts of resistance can make a significant impact,” he said. “It’s not about what you refrain from buying; it’s about sending a message to the oppressors that Muslims will not stand idly by.”
Prof. Ateş further emphasized the importance of viewing the Palestinian cause as a collective responsibility. “This is not just about helping Palestinians,” he said. “When you support Palestine, you are supporting your own faith, your own values, and your own identity.”
A Prayer for Liberation
The event concluded with a heartfelt prayer for the liberation of Palestine and the freedom of Al-Aqsa Mosque. Attendees left the conference hall with a renewed sense of purpose and determination, inspired by the powerful messages of resistance, unity, and faith.
The event, attended by Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Sami Er, Yeşilyurt Mayor Prof. Dr. İlhan Geçit, and numerous other dignitaries, highlighted the enduring strength of the Palestinian people and the unwavering support of the global Islamic community. (ILKHA)
