HÜDA PAR Chairman offers condolences for firefighters killed in Eskişehir blaze

HÜDA PAR (Free Cause Party) Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu expressed profound grief over the loss of ten firefighters and volunteers who died battling a massive forest fire in the Seyitgazi district of Eskişehir.
In a heartfelt social media post, Yapıcıoğlu offered condolences to the victims’ families and called for urgent action to address Türkiye’s recurring forest fire crisis.
“I pray for Allah’s mercy upon our heroic brothers who lost their lives while performing their duties selflessly,” Yapıcıoğlu wrote, opening his message with the Quranic verse, “Inna lillahi ve inna ilayhi raciun” (Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return). “I extend my condolences and wish patience to their families and loved ones.”
The blaze in Seyitgazi claimed the lives of five forest workers and five AKUT search and rescue volunteers, who were trapped by flames while attempting to control the fire in the region’s dense woodlands. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of these heroic individuals,” Yapıcıoğlu said. “Their courage and dedication must never be forgotten.”
Beyond mourning, Yapıcıoğlu demanded accountability and stronger preventive measures to combat forest fires, which devastate thousands of hectares annually and endanger lives. “It is clear that more effective measures must be taken regarding forest fires, which destroy our forests, our lungs, and unfortunately our lives,” he warned. He urged a thorough investigation into the incident, insisting that “those found negligent or at fault must be held accountable before the law.”
The tragedy has intensified public calls for enhanced fire prevention strategies, improved safety protocols for emergency responders, and greater support for the families of those lost in the line of duty.
As Türkiye grieves, Yapıcıoğlu’s message underscores the need for systemic change to protect both the nation’s forests and its frontline heroes. (ILKHA)
