A violent explosion ripped through a building in Torbalı district, Izmir, on Sunday afternoon.
Initial investigations suggest a natural gas leak caused the blast, which tore through a bakery on the ground floor, leaving a scene reminiscent of a war zone.
The explosion, which struck around 3:00 PM on Barış Manço Street, tragically resulted in the deaths of three people. Authorities are currently working to identify the victims.
In addition to the fatalities, there were also injuries reported, although the exact number remains unclear. Emergency personnel are at the scene providing medical attention to the injured and assessing the overall situation.
While preliminary reports indicate a natural gas explosion, a thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the blast.
Rescue efforts are in full force as crews prioritize locating any potential victims trapped in the debris. The extent of the damage to the bakery and surrounding structures is also being evaluated.
This is a developing story, and further information will be provided as it becomes available. (ILKHA)
