Turkey launches "Operation Kıran" against PKK in three provinces
Turkish Interior Ministry announced Monday the launch of "Operation Kıran" against the PKK in Hakkari, Van and Şırnak districts.
The ministry stated that the Operation Kıran (large scale) has been launched in order to neutralize the PKK members in a large region in these three provinces on August 2019.
A total of 129 operational teams, consisting of Gendarmerie, police special operations teams and security guards, were deployed in Hakkari, Şırnak and Van provinces as part of Operation Kıran.
A total of 43 caves/shelters [used by the PKK members] have been destroyed in these three provinces in the scope of the operations, the statement said, adding that the operation will continue. (ILKHA)
