Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the arrest of 100 suspects linked to ISIS during a series of nationwide operations conducted over the past week.
Dubbed “Gürz-41” and “Gürz-42,” the operations were carried out in 24 provinces under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, the General Directorate of Security’s Counterterrorism (TEM) and Intelligence Departments, and the Gendarmerie General Command’s TEM Department.
The arrests took place in Ankara, Antalya, Çankırı, Çorum, Düzce, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Kahramanmaraş, Kocaeli, Kırşehir, Mersin, Nevşehir, Sakarya, Samsun, Şanlıurfa, Yalova, Amasya, Çanakkale, Diyarbakır, Kayseri, Kırıkkale, Elazığ, and Malatya.
The suspects are accused of involvement with ISIS, including financing the terrorist organization and using social media to disseminate propaganda. Authorities also seized organizational documents and digital materials during the operations.
Minister Yerlikaya shared details of the coordinated effort on his social media account, emphasizing the collaboration between provincial police directorates and gendarmerie commands in combating terrorism.
The operations highlight Türkiye’s ongoing efforts to dismantle ISIS networks and prevent their activities within the country. (ILKHA)
