The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced today that 15 members of the PKK/YPG were killed in operations conducted in both Syria and northern Iraq.
According to the Ministry's statement, two PKK/YPG members were "neutralised" in the Gara region of northern Iraq, while an additional 13 were taken out in the Euphrates Shield and Peace Spring regions of northern Syria.
The Ministry emphasized Türkiye's unwavering commitment to combating terrorism, stating: "Our target is wherever the terrorist is. Our heroic Turkish Armed Forces neutralised 2 PKK terrorists identified in the Gara region in northern Iraq and 13 PKK/YPG terrorists identified in the Euphrates Shield and Peace Spring regions in northern Syria. We will continue unpredictable, unconventional, rapid and continuous operations to destroy terrorism at its source."
This operation underscores Türkiye's ongoing military strategy to eliminate threats from the PKK and its Syrian affiliate, the YPG, which Türkiye considers terrorist organizations due to their links with the Kurdish insurgency within its borders. The Euphrates Shield and Peace Spring operations are part of Türkiye's broader military efforts in northern Syria aimed at securing its borders and preventing the establishment of a Kurdish autonomous zone close to its territory.
The announcement reaffirms Türkiye's resolve in its fight against terrorism, highlighting the military's readiness to conduct operations wherever and whenever necessary to safeguard national security. (ILKHA)
