Turkish President pledges solidarity after Damascus church bombing

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan issued a resolute condemnation of the recent terrorist attack on the Mar Elias Church in Damascus, Syria, labeling it a “heinous act of terror” that threatens the country’s fragile peace and cultural coexistence.
In a statement on X, Erdoğan expressed condolences to the victims’ families, the Syrian government, and its people, while wishing a speedy recovery to those injured in the blast.
“We stand in solidarity with the Syrian people and government in the face of this vile act of terror, which targeted Syria’s peace, security, internal stability, and its culture of coexistence,” Erdoğan declared. He underscored Syria’s tentative steps toward recovery after years of conflict, warning that proxy terrorist groups are attempting to destabilize the nation once again. “After years of oppression and conflict, our neighbor, brotherly Syria, has only recently begun to look to the future with hope. We will never allow Syria to be dragged into a new climate of instability,” he stated.
Reaffirming Turkey’s unwavering support, Erdoğan vowed to stand by Damascus in its fight against terrorism. “We will continue to support the Syrian government in its struggle against terrorism,” he affirmed, signaling Ankara’s commitment to regional stability.
