Türkiye welcomes Afghanistan-Pakistan ceasefire deal

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued a statement welcoming the recent ceasefire agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan, brokered through joint mediation by Türkiye and Qatar.
In its press release, the ministry said: “We welcome that Afghanistan and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire under the mediation of Türkiye and Qatar and decided to establish mechanisms to strengthen peace and stability between the two countries during the talks held in Doha.”
Türkiye also praised Qatar’s role in hosting the negotiations, noting the importance of collaborative diplomatic efforts.
The ministry added: “Türkiye will continue to support the efforts for achieving lasting peace and stability between the two brotherly countries and in the region.”
The agreement marks a significant step toward reducing tensions and fostering cooperation between Afghanistan and Pakistan, with both nations agreeing to follow up with mechanisms to ensure the sustainability of the ceasefire. (ILKHA)
