The Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a press release on Wednesday, welcoming the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon and expressing hope that the truce would become permanent.
"We welcome the successful conclusion of the negotiations to establish a ceasefire in Lebanon and hope that the ceasefire will be permanent," the ministry stated.
The ministry emphasized the importance of international pressure on Israel to ensure its full compliance with the ceasefire terms and to provide reparations for the destruction caused during the conflict.
Reaffirming Turkey's commitment to supporting peace in Lebanon, the statement added: "Türkiye stands ready to extend the necessary support for the establishment of internal peace in Lebanon."
The press release also highlighted the broader need for stability in the region, calling for immediate action in Gaza. "We take this opportunity to recall that in order to ensure regional peace and stability, a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire must be declared in Gaza as soon as possible, and Israel must cease its aggressive policies," the ministry concluded.
The ceasefire in Lebanon comes after months of conflict and international mediation, raising hopes for a reduction in hostilities and a step towards lasting peace in the region. (ILKHA)
