Yüzüncü Yıl University (YYU) in Türkiye’s eastern Van province has witnessed a 'silent march' led by academics and students in protest against the ongoing massacre and genocide perpetrated by the Zionist occupation regime in Gaza for nearly eight months.

Following Friday prayers, academics and students assembled in front of the Faculty of Literature at YYU, embarking on a silent march that stretched from Alley Road to the central cafeteria building. A press statement was delivered at the 'Campus Intifada Tent' established for the occasion, with Van YYU Vocational School Lecturer Yücel Islam reading the statement.

Islam's speech emphasized the dire situation in Gaza and the global implications of the ongoing genocide. He condemned the oppressive tactics of the Zionist regime and criticized world leaders for their complicity. Islam highlighted the need for global solidarity with the Palestinian cause, stressing the importance of raising awareness and taking action against injustice.

"The genocide in Gaza and the indifference of world leaders pose a threat to humanity as a whole," Islam stated. "It is imperative that we stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Gaza and all oppressed regions worldwide. We must free our minds from the occupation and actively oppose it through peaceful means, including boycotts."

The event concluded with a pledge to continue organizing silent marches and press statements at YYU every Friday until the atrocities in Gaza come to an end.

It is evident that YYU academics and students are determined to raise their voices in support of Palestine and contribute to the global movement for justice and peace in the region. (ILKHA)
