Afghanistan, Iran boost health sector ties with new cooperation agreements

Afghan Minister of Public Health, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, and Iranian Ambassador Ali Reza Bikdeli met in Kabul to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in the health sector, the Afghan Ministry of Public Health announced.
The meeting focused on key areas, including capacity-building in oncology, procurement of advanced medical equipment, and the completion of hospital construction projects in Kabul and Bamyan. Minister Jalali highlighted the urgent need for modern medical technology, specialized training for healthcare workers, research into disease prevention, and access to high-quality medicine.
Ambassador Bikdeli reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to supporting Afghanistan’s health initiatives, pledging to provide training programs for Afghan healthcare professionals in oncology. He also confirmed that construction on hospitals in Kabul and Bamyan will resume soon, signaling deeper collaboration between the two nations.
