Mawlid Al Nabi celebrations begin in Istanbul

The Prophet’s Lovers Foundation has launched its annual Mawlid Al Nabi celebration in Istanbul’s Bağcılar Square under the theme "Leader of Resistance Prophet Muhammad", drawing a large and enthusiastic crowd.
Organized as part of the foundation’s broader "Understanding the Prophet and Living His Sunnah" campaign, this year’s event carries a strong message of resistance and solidarity, particularly with the oppressed people of Palestine.
The celebration began with a heartfelt recitation of the Holy Qur'an by Yusuf Can Islam, enveloping the square in a spiritual atmosphere. The program is set to continue with the traditional recitation of the Mawlid-i Sharif, evoking love and reverence for Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Following the Qur'an recitation, the Prophet’s Lovers Foundation’s annual message will be read, emphasizing the Prophet’s guidance for resistance and steadfastness. Mehmet Göktaş, the Honorary President of the Foundation, will deliver a keynote address, alongside distinguished guest speakers including Talal Nassar, an official from HAMAS, and Muhammed Emin Yıldırım, founder of the Siyer Foundation.
In addition to speeches, the event features hymns, melodies, and anthems that highlight the spirit of devotion and resistance inspired by the life of the Prophet (PBUH).
Bağcılar Square has been specially prepared for the occasion, with decorations and banners commemorating key figures of the Palestinian resistance such as Ismail Haniyeh, Yahya Sinwar, Muhammad Deif, Salih al-Aruri, and Abu Hamza, alongside Turkish martyrs Yasin Börü and his teacher Aytaç Baran, who were killed while distributing sacrificial meat during the 6-8 October 2014 incidents.
Security measures were intensified in the square, with attendees undergoing checks before entering the event area.
A charity bazaar, jointly organized by the Prophet’s Lovers Foundation and Hope Caravan, has also been set up at the site. The proceeds from the bazaar will be directed toward supporting Gaza as well as helping orphans and victims in need.
The event will conclude with a collective prayer, lifting heartfelt supplications for the entire Ummah. (ILKHA)
