Afghanistan’s power sector set to thrive with Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan partnerships

Dr. Abdul Bari Omar, CEO of Da Afghan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), held key discussions this week with investor delegations from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to explore new opportunities for investment in Afghanistan’s electricity generation sector.
During the high-level meeting, Dr. Omar presented a range of strategic investment opportunities within Afghanistan’s energy sector, underscoring their alignment with DABS’s long-term development plan. He expressed confidence that partnerships in power generation would play a vital role in the country’s journey toward sustainable development.
“Investment in electricity generation, in line with Breshna’s strategic plan, is the best option for sustainable development,” Dr. Omar said. “We are ready to provide the necessary cooperation in this regard.”
The visiting delegations from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan outlined a series of proposals aimed not only at boosting Afghanistan’s electricity production but also at enhancing the capabilities of local technical engineers through specialized training programs. Their plans signal a strong interest in developing infrastructure and building local capacity within the Afghan energy sector.
Dr. Omar welcomed the proposals and highlighted DABS’s commitment to fostering effective partnerships with both domestic and international investors. He emphasized that these initiatives would significantly contribute to improving the country’s power supply and strengthening Afghanistan’s technical workforce.
The meeting marks a positive step toward greater regional cooperation in the energy sector and reflects growing investor confidence in Afghanistan’s infrastructure potential under DABS’s leadership. Further discussions and evaluations are expected in the coming weeks to formalize potential agreements and implementation timelines. (ILKHA)
